Εξαιτίας των τουρκικών βιαιοτήτων στις πόλεις Λευκωσίας, Πάφου και Λάρνακας, και την ανοχή της Κυβέρνησης, οι έξι δήμαρχοι των πόλεων της Κύπρου συναντήθηκαν με τον Κυβερνήτη. Οι δήμαρχοι διαμαρτυρήθηκαν στον Κυβερνήτη για τις τουρκικές βιαιότητες που βάζουν σε κίνδυνο ζωές και περιουσίες Ελληνοκυπρίων, και για τις ομιλίες των Τούρκων ηγετών. Διαμαρτηρύθηκαν επίσης, για τηνανοχή που έδειξε η Κυβέρνηση και επέτρεωαν όλα αυτά να συμβούν. Οι δήμαρχοι ρωτήσαν επίσης τον Κυβερνήτη και τον Γραμματέα του αν έχουν κάποια αναφορά βίας που να εμπλέκονται Ελληνοκύπριοι αλλά η απάντηση δεν ήταν θετική. Τέλος, επισημάνθηκε ότι οι Ελληνοκύπριοι δουλεύουν για την συνύπαρξη των δύο λαών.

Due to the Turkish brutalities in the cities of Nicosia, Pafos, and Larnaca, and the tolerance of the Government, the six mayors of the cities of Cyprus met with the Governor. The mayors protested to the governor for the Turkish brutalities putting in danger the lives and the properties of the Greek Cypriots and the public speeches of the Turkish leaders. They protested also to the tolerance of the Government, which allowed all these to happen. The mayors asked also the Governor and his Secretary to report if they have in mind any incident that Greek Cypriots are involved but there was no positive reply. Finally, it was noted that the Greek Cypriots are working in favour of the co-existence of the two peoples.
