The Turkish opposition accuses the government for abolishing democracy and freedoms

Abstract

The genesis of the Turkish democracy is dated from the 1950's. At first the People's Party was in power for 27 years and then the Democratic Party supervene. The political agenda of the Democratic Party since then included the increase of freedom of speech, press and the consolidation of individual freedoms. But the broad demotic support has led the party into applying a different strategy and political agenda on economic and social development with much more strict policy. The parliament for an example gives the Democratic Party a huge advantage on decisions, through an enactment that they accredited, because they have the majority of the seats. This has led the Party into abolishing some of the basic principles of democracy in order to forward their political agenda. The opposition party was disqualified for using the radio or the press for its agenda and a new enactment chastens any who animadverts any official government figures. The opposition accuses the Democratic Party for abolishing the democracy and criticize the government.
